![]() I definitely don't want something that's going to be an incremental step up from the HS7s (i.e. I suppose I could feed non-powered speakers from my stereo, but I'd have to be talked out of powered speakers. I'm currently feeding my HS7s from a Focusrite 2i4 through an HS8sub which is turned fairly far down to just give a bit of oompf to the bass. I do absolutely no mixing and don't need 'brutally honest sound'. Is it because we're sitting closer? I want the sound to be realistic and pleasant. I'll admit that I'm not quite sure why people get monitors for digital pianos instead of hi-fi speakers. What I don't want is another clinical set of speakers. Besides the three-way speakers, I also like the front ports and the ability to tweak the output remotely via their app. The A8Hs are billed as midfield, though I'm not sure what about them makes them different than a nearfield other than the fact that they have a separate midrange speaker. For this reason, I'm looking at 3 way speakers, specifically the Adam A8Hs which currently are on sale for $2500/pair. Although these are positioned behind my keyboard, I thought I might also use these to supplement my stereo system where I currently use a pair of PSB tower speakers and a sub on the other side of the room. ![]() I'm cutting off the budget at $2500/pair (would like less, but willing to go to that if necessary). I'd love to be able to try out a bunch of speakers, but due to my location I'm probably going to have to take a chance on a purchase. This has made me think that the 'right' external monitors might make a big difference. The sound through the NV10S doesn't have this, but it's also fairly boxy compared to the clarity through the external monitors. This has helped but there are still generally some weird harmonics when I play in this range whereas above and below sound great. I've tweaked settings on various plugins, starting with velocity curve and hammer hardness, and also plugged various dynamic equalizers (TDR NovaGE, Waves F6, Toneboosters EQ4), into the chain. The HS7s are quite harsh and overpronounced in the first two octave's above middle C. I'm considering a replacement for my HS7s which I use along with the internal sound on my NV10s.
